Hello TFNers! It’s Bridgette, the creator of This Feels Nice (TFN)!
Since I can remember, drawing, painting, and crafting things by hand has been part of my life. I think one of the first things I ever made was a self-portrait using my mom’s red lipstick all over my parent’s bedroom wall. A sensational first canvas if I do say so myself, pretty sure it was very well received by my first art critics, aka my parents!
Jokes aside, hand painting with paint brushes, paper, and gouache will always be a core part of my practice and the world of This Feels Nice. Nothing can replace the feeling of opening a blank page of paper and using your pencil to create a world that has only ever existed in your mind until now! And let’s not forget about the often overlooked eraser. A symbol that you can always start over and try, and try again.
Each post on This Feels Nice’s Instagram is hand-made. The process starts with a pencil sketch (or many, many sketches and plenty of erasing) in a sketchbook, followed by a final painted version.
When it came time to make our first product, The Astrology Baby Swaddle Blanket, I knew that drawing and painting each astrological character by hand was going to be how we infused our heart and soul into each blanket and make it just that more special whether it’s being given as a gift to a friend or parent-to-be, or you’re scooping one up for yourself and the special child in your life.
Each astrological sign (from Aries to Scorpio!) was drawn in pencil and then painted in three various shades of blue. Even though there are only 12 astrological/zodiac signs we have over 20 final paintings and 100 versions of all the astrology signs. We believe that each painting is just as unique as each sign.
